New Mangala College of Nursing in association with government bodies, private organizations, and noneducational institutions , Mangalore offers scholarship schemes to support students who are both needy and meritorious. These scholarships are intended to make nursing education more accessible for deserving candidates. The scholarships are awarded based on a combination of financial need and academic performance, helping to ease the financial burden of tuition and related expenses for eligible students. TNAI SCHOLARSHIP for Nursing students

The TNAI (Trained Nurses’ Association of India) Scholarship is a financial assistance program designed to support nursing students across India who demonstrate both academic merit and economic need. It is available to students enrolled in recognized courses such as ANM, GNM, B.Sc. Nursing, Post-Basic B.Sc. Nursing, and Master’s in Nursing at institutions approved by the Nursing Council or other regulatory bodies. The scholarship provides a one-time grant of ₹24,000 to selected candidates.

Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must be Indian citizens and bona fide students of a recognized School/College of Nursing.
The applicant should not be receiving any other financial aid, stipend, or scholarship.
Candidates must be TNAI members for at least one year before joining their nursing course and should be active in TNAI/SNAI activities.
Academic merit and family income are key selection factors.
Recommendations from both the Principal/Head of Institution and the Unit SNAI Advisor are mandatory.
Students from any academic year can apply, but each institution can forward a maximum of two applications per course category.

Application Process:

Applications must be filled online at the official TNAI scholarship portal, with all required documents uploaded in JPG or PDF format.
Completed applications should be submitted before the specified deadline; late or incomplete applications are not considered.
The TNAI Scholarship is a significant initiative to make nursing education more accessible and to encourage talented individuals from economically weaker sections to join the nursing profession.

Lila Poonawalla Foundation Scholarship:

Offers up to INR 1 lakh annually for students studying in Pune colleges and INR 60,000 for students in Wardha colleges. Eligibility criteria include scoring minimum 60% marks in 10th and 12th grade examinations and annual family income less than INR 3.5 lakh.

ACC Vidyasaarathi Scholarship:

Provides up to INR 20,500 for students with a minimum 50% score in 12th grade examination and annual family income less than INR 5 lakh.

Mother Teresa Scholarship:

Awards INR 15,000 per year to minority students (Muslim, Christian, Parsi, Jain, Sikh, or Buddhist) residing in Kerala with merit in nursing or diploma and annual family income less than INR 8 lakh.

Timken Scholarship:

Offers up to INR 75,000 for students with minimum 50% marks in 10th and 12th grade examinations and annual family income less than INR 8 lakh.

– Sasakawa India Leprosy Foundation Scholarship:

Available for students with leprosy or those having parents with leprosy, residing in self-settled leprosy colonies, and pursuing (link unavailable) Nursing or GNM courses.

Sir Ratan Tata Trust & Navajbai Ratan Tata Trust Education Grants:

Covers entire tuition fees and provides a monthly stipend of INR 5,000 for students residing in Mumbai or Mumbai suburbs with passing marks in previous examinations.

National Merit Scholarships:

Awards students who excel in academics and extracurricular activities, covering entire tuition fees and providing a monthly stipend of INR 10,000.

Vidyadhan Scholarship:

Offers INR 5,000 per annum for 11th and 12th class students and scholarships ranging from INR 10,000 to INR 60,000 for degree courses based on merit and course duration ¹

How to apply:

Students applying for scholarship need to “Register” on the portal(https://scholarships.gov.in/) as fresh applicant by providing accurate and correct information as per their documents. The student will also be required to upload bonafide student certificate from Institute, Bank Passbook  & Photo along with their application. Institute Nodal Officer(Principal) should verify the document using their College ID  detail. The Institute Nodal officer must verify the correctness of details in the application form and uploaded documents submitted by the student/applicant.

State Scholarships

– Vidyasiri Scholarship: For students with permanent residency in Karnataka, belonging to OBC, EBC, SC, or ST categories, scoring at least 90% in previous exams, and having 75% attendance.
– State Scholarship: For students who are residents of Karnataka, with family income within eligible limits, and belonging to SC/ST/Minority communities.

How to apply:

Student should create SSP Account (www.ssp.postmatric.karnataka.gov.in) with their Aadhar detail & they should upload caste, Income certificate, Bonafide certificate, Fees receipt, marks card. E-Attestation Officer(Principal) should verify the document using their Aadhaar detail every day & e-Attest the documents electronically if they are genuine, else they have to reject with proper reasons. Student should note down the Document ID of the e-Attested document which should be entered while applying for Post-Matric Scholarship in SSP.

E-Pass

Online Post Matric Scholarships disbursements through E-Pass application is one of the important welfare measures of the Government of Karnataka which is aimed at the educational upliftment of Students, initiated by the Department of Backward Class Welfare.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Student should be resident of Karnataka.
  • Students family income must be within the eligible limit.
  • Students belonging to ST, SC & OBC are eligible to apply.

How to apply:

Student applying for scholarship need to apply in the KarePass.cgg.gov portal. There are three choices in the homepage – Free Hostel Registration, Pratibha Puraskar Registration, and Fresh & Renewal Registrations for FC, PMS FAAS, and Nursing. They should fill  the personal details, including the annual income details, Aadhar number, SSLC details, etc. They should upload caste, Income certificate, 10th & II PUC marks card, Bank Passbook & Photo. After filling the application form, an application number is generated which is unique for all the applicants. In order to check the status of the form applied for the scholarship, the candidate can check using the application number on the KarePass portal.  The Principal must verify the correctness of details in the application form and uploaded documents submitted by the student/ applicant using their college ID detail.

University Scholarships

– Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) Scholarship: For students who have studied in Karnataka for at least 10 years, secured 60% or above in 10+2, and have an annual family income not exceeding INR 6 lakhs.

How to apply:

Student should create SSP Account (http://ssp.postmatric.karnataka.gov.in/) with their Aadhar detail & they should upload caste, Income certificate, Bonafide certificate, Fees receipt, marks card. E-Attestation Officer(Principal) should verify the document using their Aadhaar detail every day & e-Attest the documents electronically if they are genuine, else they have to reject with proper reasons. Student should note down the Document ID of the e-Attested document which should be entered while applying for Post-Matric Scholarship in SSP.

Private Scholarships

– Sasakawa India Leprosy Foundation Scholarship: For students pursuing BSc Nursing (Basic) and GNM, with leprosy or parents suffering from leprosy. Application deadline is June 30, 2025.
– Vidyadhan Scholarship: For students from specific states, including Karnataka, with a minimum 90% score in 10th class and annual family income less than INR 2 lakhs
